New Depositor Freerolls – Every Saturday at 2pm there is a $500 freeroll for new depositors.

Gold Chip Giveaways – As you earn more FPP’s you will earn gold chips. You can use these gold chips to play in exclusive tournaments or save them for use in the Cake Poker shop. The more gold chips you earn in a month, the faster your next gold chip will be earned.

Gold Card 500 – Every gold card that you win earns you miles in a weekly gold card race. The top 10 mile collectors each week win cash prizes.

Refer-a-Friend – $100 for you, $100 for your friend.

Multi-table Tournaments

Cake has new tournaments starting every fifteen minutes, which means you should be able to find a tournament to your liking at any time of the day. Cake Poker runs a lot of rebuy/add-on tournaments and there are usually a ton of rebuys. These tournaments can be very profitable if you have a good start right from the get go, as the people who rebuy are usually just adding money to the pot, but will likely not cash. There are also plenty of bounty tournaments run at Cake with 50% of the buy-in going to the prize pool and 50% left as the bounty. Most of the tournaments are of the low buy-in variety, but you can find up to $30 tournaments consistently throughout the day.

Sit and Go Tournaments

Sit and go tournaments take a while to fill up at Cake and you would be hard pressed to find one with a buy-in larger than the $23 turbo shorthanded. Cake Poker is primarily a cash game and multi-table tournaments card room.

Ring Games

The low limit traffic for hold’em and Omaha ring games is quite good at Cake. There are always plenty of games going with blinds $5/$10 and lower for hold’em and $0.50/$1 for Omaha. Cake also offers micro limits of $0.02/$0.04 which are always filled in both hold’em and Omaha ring games.

Game Variety

  • Hold’em
  • Omaha H/L
  • Omaha Hi
  • Stud H/L
  • Stud Hi

*Stud H/L and Stud Hi only have games running during peak hours.

Software & Graphics

Cake’s software is functional and the graphics are ok. The lobby is easy to navigate with separate sections for cash games and tournaments, and two additional menu bars in each section to make it easy for you to find the kind of cash game or tournament that you are looking for. The tables are somewhat resizable, with no loss in the graphics quality. By somewhat, I mean that they can be condensed, but not by very much. On a regular screen you are still only be able to fit 2 tables side by side at their smallest size. Cake has twenty 3-dimensional avatars that you can choose from, all of which are fairly realistic. Cake keeps track of your stats and you can find them in the chat box while you play. The software is constantly being updated and any problems with lag or other issues from the early days have since been fixed.

Competition

The competition at Cake Poker has improved since Cake was just starting out, but it is still a little bit below average. You can no longer find 60% flop percentages, but there are still many tables with 40% of the players to the flop.
