Poker is the first game you think of when someone mentions the casino. It is extremely social, can be played in many variants, and most importantly, if you have the right poker face, you can win it all. But it is not where all the action is; we look into some other games and realize the differences between poker and other great casino games.
One round of poker can take an entire evening, if not 115 hours - but most people play other games for a few hours with friends, and is seen more as entertainment than "serious" poker. A similar game is blackjack - a game that entails a fair amount of effort and skill, we always want to beat the house and hit that magic 21, but requires an unrelenting amount of patience for that right moment to build the chip stack. There always seems to be an advantage for the casino.
There is nothing better than a game of poker with friends - it’s an interesting mix of tension and excitement in taking your friend’s money, but nothing more important than protecting one’s self-pride. A casino game like slots is always a great way to relax and feel the rush of the 7-7-7 coming down, but poker has a different way of setting the mood and enjoyment, that slots cannot really provide.
A firm favorite for many casino goers is Roulette. The mesmerizing game allows over fifteen people to play at one table where people bet on landing on their lucky number, color, odds/evens and or section of the table. We don’t believe there is any skill attached to this game - unless you’re a fortuneteller! Moreover, in Poker, there are the perfect pairs, the pocket aces, the perfect flop and the ultimate river card, but all of those lucky moments come with concentration, and - of course - with a poker face of steel.
Some of the richest gamers toil their trade on poker tables - and can be played in casinos, online and in social gatherings. One of the most famous players in the modern age is Dan Bilzerian, a wild ex-marine with a taste for high stakes and a lot of girls. It is important to remember that to win poker requires a high risk, high reward strategy, that doesn’t always pay off. As opposed to when there are Bingo games to play for example, there’s a lot of fun to be had and not too much risk to take. This is also why games like Bingo are very popular.
Craps is a close second in the list for the ultimate casino game, right behind poker. Many high rollers play this as their game of choice, and what’s better than being the centre of attention in a craps game - not much. On the other hand, poker is quite private and reserved and no one can really follow or bet on you the same way craps can. Poker allows for the player to be greedy internally, as he decides how to play his hand, whereas craps showcases the players greed for the entire floor to see.
Whatever the game, as long as you’re having fun, it’s all good!
